Barcelona Maritime City

The Mediterranean Sea is really important in Barcelona. The city’s history can not be understood without the presence of the sea. We propose a journey in time through Ghotic, Born and Barceloneta Quarters, to explore in depth the relationship between the city and the sea.

We will visit:

– The old Roman Gate to the sea and the remains of the little colony linked to the natural harbour.
Santa Maria del Mar and the whole neighborhood of the bank who grew thanks to the maritime trade.
Barceloneta Baroque Quarter of the eighteenth century created on a peninsula reclaimed from the sea.
– The reforms, with the Olympics and the tourism boom, have been made on the waterfront.
